A short book list to get you going
Very little has been written specifically about the Atlantic Rainforest, but “With Broadax and Firebrand” by Warren Dean is a fascinating history of 12,000 years of the Atlantic Rainforest, focusing on the rapid destruction of the past sixty years. Read this to get a feel for the uniqueness and importance of our forest. Another important work is Galindo-Leal’s “The Atlantic Forest of South America.”
Interested in the flora and fauna? Check out “Tropical Nature” by Adrian Forsyth & Ken Miyata, a very clearly written guide for non-biologists describing some of the of the rainforest plants, insects and animals, and giving a clear idea of their complex interrelationships.
